Gaga for i-D s/s 2011

Photographed by Mariano Vivanco.

Christina Hendricks for Vivienne Westwood

All-round screen siren and star of hit TV show Mad Men Christina Hendricks has been revealed as the face (and not to mention the body) of Vivienne Westwood's latest range of jewellery.

Hendricks (who portrays Joan Holloway on the show) looks stunning, as usual, and also a healthy role model to have as a spokesperson, a change from the pin-thin, gap-toothed creatures I am endlessly bored of seeing. Her flame-red locks are a perfect match for Dame Viv and her latest campaign.

The Manifesto of Mother Monster

Lady Gaga's music video for her already anthemic single 'Born This Way' has been released and it's a 70s sci-fi rock musical of wonder! Presenting herself as a God of a new race of being, with protruding temples, cheekbones and shoulder blades Gaga looks svelte and lean in her black bikini.

Being created, reminiscent of the Queen with a hundred heads in the movie 'Return To Oz'.

Gaga's famous for the warping of gender barriers and this video is no exception. My favourite look of the video is the Thierry Mugler inspired 'skull' face with long pink hair and a suit with powerful, strong shoulder pads, naturally.

Her last look is an almost outright homage to Madonna. The light on her face, the gap in the teeth, with all the controversy 'Born This Way' for resembling Madonna's hit 'Express Yourself' it is clear that Gaga is still playing the fame game, and eager to get people talking!

This video, quite simply, needs to be a feature length sci-fi musical.

Oscars 2011

I'm short of time so here, quite simply, is a rundown of my favourite looks from last night's Oscar ceremony.

I love how Hilary Swank (above in Gucci) can completely alter her otherwise athletic build and sometimes masculine appearance to look so elegant and glamorous and above all wonderfully feminine.

Celine Dion, fresh from the birth of her twins looked radiant in Armani Prive.

Halle Berry looking feather-light and ethereal in this beautifully embellished Marchesa number.

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Haute Couture. Enough said. She never steps out of line. She can do no wrong.

Another satisfying moment for me was seeing Mandy Moore (above) appear in the Monique Lhullier gown that you may remember me blogging about almost six months ago -

Footnote: Whoever are in charge of Jennifer Hudson and Scarlett Johansson... you can go right ahead and fire yourselves... Hideous.

New Obsession Alert III - Jessie J

British recording artist Jessie J seems to have come from nowhere. Catapulted into success with her hit single 'Do it Like A Dude' and her with her follow up single 'Price Tag' sure to storm the UK charts this week, she even has people across the pond falling for her, with the US market notoriously hard to break, could Jessie be the UK's ambassador for new music?

Yes please.

Jessie can currently be seen gracing the cover of RWD magazine

It's not just her music that have got people talking, I have a serious style crush on this girl. Not afraid to have fun, not afraid to look feminine or masculine, her look is young, fresh but, like the attitude, still fiercely sexy. Personally I think this is down to her using many a young designer in her videos, notably some up and coming British designers, in particular my personal friend Hasan Hejazi who has dressed Diana Vickers, Paloma Faith, Marina Diamandis (of Marina and the Diamonds) not to mention HRH Kylie Minogue.

Jessie J wearing Hasan Hejazi SS11 in her video for 'Price Tag'

Another topic on everyone's lips is... well... her lips which are fast becoming somewhat of a trademark with fans the world over imitating her latest lip looks.

Whether they're spiked (as in the 'Do It Like A Dude video below)

or mirrored, as they appear in the promo pictures of her second single 'Price Tag' (below)

or even a subtle gold leaf floral detail that is set to appear on the cover of her upcoming debut album (below) 'Who You Are' released on February 28th and available to pre-order NOW.

Jessie J's future is inevitably bright, be sure to follow her and the incredibly talented Hasan Hejazi, who is set for big things in the fashion world, on Twitter at -

Clone Jett

Marios Schwab's ready to wear spring/summer 2011 collection saw models sporting the same 'do made famous by iconic rocker Joan Jett....

I'm undecided. They just remind me of old fancy dress wigs.... and Kristen Stewart.

Loved the collection though.

Carey and the Olsens

I don't consider myself to be much of a celebrity reporter, but you can't argue with Carey Mulligan in Chanel couture at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards.

The 25 year-old British actress (who seems to have come from nowhere) has designers tripping over their hemlines to get her to wear their clothes, and although I don't know if she has a huge team of stylists behind her, but her taste and style seem to be impeccable. There's something very Parisian chic about her attitude and yet she still evokes the true laid-back effortlessness that I (perhaps with slight bias) consider to be quintessentially British. It has also been reported that during that she broke down in tears during the awards ceremony after receiving a phone call from Baz Luhrmann awarding her the role of Daisy Buchanan in his upcoming adaptation of the literary classic 'The Great Gatsby'.

And of course, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards could never be blogged about without the mention of my favourite twins who were also in attendance -

- they never fail me.

Born This Way

I was going to do an entire recap of the best dressed at the 2010 Video Music Awards, but quite frankly there was no one else worth commenting on, and this outfit couldn't go unmentioned on my blog.

Gaga in McQueen. Lee would have been proud.

Ba-nanas

This may come as a surprise to some but until a week or so ago I had never watched an episode of The Rachel Zoe Project. I was aware of Rachel Zoe, who she was and what she did and her celebrity clientele, I even follow her on Twitter but somehow the TV show had completely passed me by. For someone like me, who loves American television, loves fashion and loves reality TV I really don't understand how I've lived so long without this show. It's insightful, glamorous, fast-paced, hilarious and not to mention addictive! It's so LA. Zoe is endearing, knowledgeable and slightly crazy. I love that she isn't afraid to poke fun at herself, which is a breath of fresh air in this industry. Her style director Brad Goreski is also adorable. I love his quirky, preppy style mixed with casual LA-wear. I sometimes find myself looking forward to seeing what he's wearing (along with AusNTM's model mentor Josh Flinn, who's wardrobe this cycle has been oh-so coveted by yours truly).

Needless to say that in a little over a week I've caught up, almost three entire seasons of The Rachel Zoe Project - done. I'm obsessed. I want to work for her. I want her career and her lifestyle.

And am I the only one who finds themselves talking like her for a while after watching an episode? It's awful. I die. Between Zoe and living with a Canadian girl, my already messed up Welsh/English mongrel accent is having a field day!

Bad Boy Meat

When seeing Gaga on the cover of VOGUE Hommes Nippon this month nude and covered in meat, my inexplicably encyclopaedic knowledge of America's Next Top Model kicked in.

I couldn't help but be reminded of the photoshoot contestants did in New York's meat packing district wearing, well... meat...

ANTM Cycle 10 winner Whitney Thompson wearing beef underwear in 2008

In the same publication Gaga also poses as her male alter-ego Jo Calderone.

Lady Gaga as "Jo Calderone"

Again in Cycle 8 of ANTM (2007) they had a Drag King photoshoot.

Tyra Banks posing as a man in 2007.

Mock ANTM all you want, you can't deny its influence. There's a reason it has been around for seven years, and it really is improving (with a little help from Andre Leon Talley, no doubt his involvement has had something to do with the show being taken more seriously, especially now since the winner gets a spread in VOGUE Italia rather than Seventeen magazine).

Cycle 15 Premieres on September 8th. Bring it.

Dammit Janice

"Everything about me is fake and I'm perfect"

Janice Dickinson, the world's (self-titled) "First Supermodel". You know, she hasn't always been a screaming, drunken, all-round fabulous mess going around spilling champagne on fashion's aristocracy, telling starving models to lose weight and calling Tyra Banks fat. There was a time (before the botox, the brow lift, the boob job, the boob lift, the jowl removal, the lip injections, the cheek implants, the eye bag removal, the tummy tuck, the fake tan and the veneers) when she was fresh-faced, young, beautiful and well... modelesque!

Can you believe that she once looked like this?

"Without gay men, I am nothing."

Elegance. Romance. Decadence. And a Zac Posen dress.

An Intimate Affair

So Chelsea Clinton (daughter of Bill and Hillary) got married to her long-term boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky in a ceremony of Royal Wedding proportions in Rhinebeck, New York state. The town was put on lock-down with roads closed, armoured cars and constant police surveillance. It is thought to have cost the parents of both Chelsea and Marc up to £3.2million and Oprah Winfrey, Julianne Moore and Barbra Streisand are rumoured to have been in amongst the 500+ guests.

Yawn! But I always give credit when credit's due. The ceremony and venue looked spectacular, extravagant, picturesque and ridiculously romantic. The groom wore a Christopher Bailey designed suit - brownie points for that - and the bride wore £16,000 worth of Vera Wang. And she wore it well.

Chelsea also demanded that her father lose weight for the ceremony and he promptly dropped 20lbs. Lovely.
